Buddy Big Mountain

Buddy Big Mountain is a member of the Iroquois Nation and a registered member of the Mohawk of Kahnawake Tribe of Canada. Buddy is Mohawk, Welsh and English on his mother’s side: Comanche and White Mountain Apache on his father’s side. Buddy is a Champion Native American Indian Dancer, an Award Winning Ventriloquist and Puppeteer as well as an Accomplished Ventral Singer/Songwriter.
Buddy’s life as a performer started at a very young age. Chief Iron Horse and Family, the Big Mountain’s Native American Indian Dance Show, traveled seven countries and performed in a variety of venues that span from Western Theme Parks and Circuses to Schools, Colleges and Corporate Events.
Buddy left home in 1976 to tour with the multi-media production, “The Spirit of 76”, where he added to his talents, hand and body puppetry, magician assisting as well as performing magic. In 1978 Buddy joined the Internationally Acclaimed Puppet Production Company, “The Trotter Brothers”, where he was quick to learn how to manipulate and build marionettes.
In 1981, Buddy produced a Puppet/Marionette Production called “The Mini Pow Wow”. He produced and performed Puppets/Marionettes Shows, Ventriloquist Shows, Dance Shows, Magic Shows and Variety Shows. In 1987 “The Mini Pow Wow” won first place in ‘Group’ at the Red Earth Festival honoring the life of Will Sampson in Oklahoma City.
In 1993, Buddy received several awards for his accomplishments as a master puppeteer with, “Stumbling Bear, The Video”, the first marionette he made in 1978. This video was submitted to several film festivals and won Best Short Film at the Native American Film Awards in San Francisco, at the Wind and Glacier Voices II in Lincoln Center, NY, and at the Dreamspeakers Film Festival in Canada where Buddy performed and the video was viewed.
In 2013 Buddy’s newest challenge and passion became Street Performing. Deciding to go back to his roots as a Native American Indian Dancer he created Tony ChasesPorcupines an Intertribal Fancy Dancer. Tony ChasesPoucupines dances on the Fremont Experience Downtown Las Vegas. Their music is Traditional and Contemporary Native American Indian, Holiday, and a variety of music from around the world challenging Buddy’s teachings, a good dancer can dance to anything: as long as the dancer can find a beat. They have developed a global following, thanks to Face Book, U-Tube, their new and old fans and those who visit Las Vegas Nevada.
Whether performing for 1 or 40,000 people at Pow Wow’s, Schools, Theaters, Night Clubs, Casinos, Cruise Ships, Festivals, Television, Films, Conferences, Corporate Events or even on the Streets, Buddy brings his own blend of Grassroots style Comedy, and continues to share his life and knowledge of his rich Native American Indian Heritage with the world.
